Why Should You Consider a Non-Lethal Weapon Over a Gun?

Over a million violent crimes are reported each year in the United States, so everyone should consider carrying a self-defense tool. Many people believe that using a firearm for self-defense is the best option. However, choosing a firearm over a stun gun, pepper spray, or other non-lethal self-defense tools is not a wise decision. It could come at a high price in terms of emotional, social, and financial costs. Not every conflict requires a lethal response. Regardless of original intent, a gun can put you in a very bad situation if used incorrectly. As a result, non-lethal self-defense weapons offer a way of deterring violent crime while avoiding fatalities. The following is a list of reasons why you should consider owning a non-lethal weapon.

  1. You might be limited by the state's laws on the usage of the lethal force. A non-lethal weapon is legal to carry and use in most states.
  2. "Stun and run" is better than "shoot and kill". If your intruder is unarmed, using a gun may be considered "excessive force," unless you can prove that the use was necessary due to life-threatening situations. Even then, there may be legal ramifications. So the best strategy is to immobile your target with not causing permanent damage and then run for help.
  3. If you are not well trained or there are multiple attackers, your weapon can be taken from you and against you. Although this can happen with any weapon, using a non-lethal one has a much lower risk of death.
  4. Inadequate mental training on the proper use of firearms can be fatal. Most people are not properly trained to use their firearms in life-threatening situations. Not to mention that in times of fear, you may make the incorrect decision to use a firearm.
  5. Using a firearm may end up killing someone, whether that's your intention or not. If that’s not something you want on your conscience, and you want to avoid the legal implications therein, then you should avoid firearms and choose instead a non-lethal self-defense weapon.

If the above sounds ideal to you, take a look at our original design, a non-lethal self-defense tool, and see if there is anything that fits your need.
